ALUMNI EMAIL ACCOUNT FAQ

1. What is Office 365?

Office 365 is Microsoft’s email and applications platform. With Office 365 you can access your email through Outlook or Outlook Web Access.

2. What does the move from the @alumni email forwarding mean?

It means you now have a full email account with a 50GB storage quota. You may now also send email from your @alumni.purdue.edu address.

3. How do I access my new Alumni email account?

The Alumni email portal is located here.

4. What is the maximum allowed attachment size?

The maximum allowed attachment size is 25MB.

5. How do I move/export/import email, contacts, and calendar?

6. How to setup additional features:

Signature: Automatically adds a signature to your emails. See Signature Setup.
Rules: Office 365 uses rules to automatically process email. See Inbox Rules.
User Photo: Add a picture or avatar to your account. See User Photo.
Automatic Replies: See Automatic Replies.
Auto-forward to another account: See forwarding options.

7. Do I have access to Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc…?

No, Email is all that is included.

8. How do I reset my password?

Your password can be reset from the Alumni Email Portal.

9. Why do I need to supply an email address when signing up?

This address is used for registration confirmation and to reset your password.

10. I am trying to register and the system cannot find me.

If you are not found on the first attempt, try to use a full proper first name (e.g., Steven instead of Steve) as well as a maiden last name (if applicable).

11. The system does not recognize my identification number.

The acceptable ID numbers and entry formats are listed below.
PUID – 10 digits and no dash – 002xxxxxxx
Constituent ID – 4-10 digits – 1234xxxxxx

12. I have done everything right but I still cannot access my account.

It can take up to 24 hours for the new account to be created and active.
